Motivation

I pursued an MBA degree because I believe education provides an opportunity to change the course of your life.

Flexible Options for a Family

At the time we were applying to schools (my husband and I were both in UNC Charlotte’s MBA program), we just had our daughter one year prior, and were both in full time jobs.  We knew to make this work we would need to attend a local school that gave us flexibility to complete the degree over time in case anything came up.  We also wanted a reputable and rigorous education.  UNC Charlotte was the logical choice.

My Current Role

I currently work as a Business Development Manager at Troutman Sanders LLP, a full service law firm.  We just opened our Charlotte office last year, and I was asked to lead up the Business Development efforts in North Carolina.

Volunteering with EmpoHERment

I currently volunteer as the Fund Development Chair for EmpowHERment, a non-profit that seeks to empower a continuous network of girls and women through mentorship, talent development and advocacy.  It has been fulfilling to help develop young leaders in our community through shared learning experiences, access to networks, and exposure to community resources.  I also spend all the free time I can with my wonderful daughter, Michaela, and my husband, Anthony.

My Return on Investment

I am actively utilizing the tools and knowledge I receive in class in my current position.  It is rewarding to see an immediate return on my investment in the MBA degree before my coursework is complete.  The career development opportunities that have been presented to me since I started the MBA are more than I could have imagined.  To those considering a master’s program at UNC Charlotte, it is an opportunity to invest in both your long-term and immediate future.  The professors are top notch, the resources at your disposal are plentiful, and the investment of your time, finances and experiences will be returned exponentially.
